Tiffany & Co. (commonly known as Tiffany's) is an American luxury jewelry and specialty retailer based in New York City. It was founded in 1837 by jeweler Charles Lewis Tiffany and became famous in the early 20th century under the artistic direction of his son Louis Comfort Tiffany. Known for its luxury goods, particularly diamond and sterling silver jewelry, Tiffany operates 326 stores globally. Tiffany & Co. (initially Tiffany, Young & Ellis) began selling watches in 1847. A few years later in 1854, Tiffany signed an agreement with Patek Philippe making Tiffany & Co. the first retailer in America to carry Patek watches. The special relationship between the two brands continues to this day making Tiffany-dialled Patek Philippe watches among the most sought-after pieces in the watch market. Tiffany pioneered several important watchmaking innovations, for instance, the Tiffany Timer, an early stopwatch introduced in 1868, used for engineering and scientific purposes, as well as sporting events. In addition, the company received patents for advances in watch movements and hand settings. Since then, the luxury watches at Tiffany & Co. have been recognized and honored for their craftsmanship and design innovation. With almost 167-year of horological history, Tiffany timepieces are constructed with the highest quality components and built using exacting standards that embody the brand's timeless elegance and enduring watchmaking tradition. Each is individually crafted, carefully tested, and hand-finished making it a valuable addition to any collection. Tiffany & Co. is currently owned by LVMH as of January 2021.
