"I had a dream one night, in which a fully finished Ganapati sculpture appeared to me. It was perfect as it was faithful to my early sketches and represented the vision I was trying to get across. I used the sketches as a starting point to approach the 3-dimensional piece, which then became my canvas. My early training in art school greatly helped, since my teachers often assigned the creation of 3-D sets particularly during the Ganesh festival. Miniature painting as a decorative and story-telling art form has always fascinated me, and the thought came to mind that something very classical, like the miniature, could be incorporated into my contemporary work. The decorative thus becomes part of the abstract, and the 'seen' or common form of Ganapati, as part of the unseen." - Sujata Bajaj
