Part of a set of fifty paintings, the series 'Verses in Praise of God' speak of Allah but their function is to praise, rather than to simply name. The basis of the image is a dynamic to the name of God, where the sacred name is placed in a context. The context is a 'sura', or a fragment of a 'sura' taken from the Qu'ran. This allows for a more elaborate and complex development of visual imagery based on the movement of the artist's hand.
