Although Souza was a superb draughtsman, he frequently abandoned careful delineation in his images, particularly in his heads. He did not care much about the profusion of physical features and executed them to near abstraction. This particular head is characterized by a copious number of eyes and nose yet without any facial features relating to a human being if not for the presence of a head and visible torso.
