Safwan was born in Hama, Syria in 1961 and is now one of the most prominent artists from the Arab world. He graduated from the Fine Arts Faculty of Damascus in 1985 and continued his experimentation and education until 1997 when he completed a Doctorate in Plastic Arts from Higher Plastic Arts Institute of Mons, Belgium, Safwan Dahoul has exhibited and sold out most of his solo shows throughout the Middle East and Europe, including his first solo UK exhibition Repetitive Dreams in 2013. He currently lives and works in Dubai.
