Born in Kolkata in 1971, Partha Shaw is a contemporary Indian painter who works mainly on surreal landscapes prioritizing figuration. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in 1992 and Master of Fine Art from the Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan. He incorporates traditional Indian miniature art with contemporary modern art and subscribes to the Figurative Symbolism movement, consciously developing his unique style and shaping his own vocabulary of artistic expression. His notable solo exhibition includes "Rhythmic Significance", Galerie 88, Kolkata (2010); with recent group exhibitions including "Abstract Analogy: Finding Form in the Formless", Gallerie Ganesha, New Delhi, India (2018) and "Sublimated Forms 2", Gallerie Ganesha, New Delhi, India (2021).
