Khalil Abdul Wahid

(b. 1974) Born in the UAE, Khalil's artistic career began when he came under the mentorship of the late Emirati artist Hassan Sharif. He has been exhibited in group shows regionally and internationally including FotoFest International ‘View From Inside’, USA/Abu Dhabi Festival (2014–15); and ‘Sharjah: Art from the Emirates’, National Museum of Denmark (2010); as well as many of the annual exhibitions by the Emirates Fine Arts Society. In 2016, Abdul Wahid participated in ‘Portrait of a Nation’, one of the largest exhibitions of UAE contemporary art to date at the Abu Dhabi Festival. His work is part of The ADMAF Art Collection and is featured in the ADMAF publication ‘The Art of the Emirates’. Khalil took on teaching roles in the atelier before assuming his current position as Visual Arts Manager at Dubai Culture. This role facilitates his involvement in diverse projects to cultivate the UAE’s artistic community, from grassroots initiatives through to institutional efforts.
