Born in Baroda, Hema Upadhyay completed her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Painting and Printmaking respectively from the Fine Arts Faculty of the M.S. University in 1997. In 2001, Hema exhibited her work abroad for the first time, in Australia, titled ‘The Nymph and the Adult’. In the same year, Upadhyay held her first solo exhibition, titled ‘Sweet Sweat Memories’, at the Chemould Art Gallery in Mumbai. The artist has received a number of awards and has exhibited extensively. In 2015 She passed away in Mumbai.
