LOT ESSAY
The Kurono Anniversary Green Mori features a scintillating metallic green with a subtle radial sunburst pattern, specially hand picked by Hajime Asaoka (famed Japanese watchmaker), the dial displays vibrant shades of viridian and emerald, to pine and forest green. It was nominated for GPHG 2020 in the “Challenge” category.

With its iconic art-deco design, the dial is encased beneath a high-curvature box-sapphire crystal that mimics acrylic glass of the past, and provides a unique light-play for the wearer, while 'Mori' evokes a state of contemplation and restfulness reiterating the brand's philosophy of humble beauty in simplicity.

Limited to 288 pieces, the 36.5mm high polished stainless steel case is gently tapered towards the lugs with a case thickness of 10.5mm and lug-to-lug length of 43.5mm ensuring a comfortable fit on your wrist. An outer minute track is precisely printed with three engraved concentric steel rings with four applied baton indexes to catch the light in a mesmerising way. Sculpted brushed hands complemented by a tapered teardrop balanced sweeping second hand finishing this elegantly understated vision of Japanese creativity and sensibility. The brand motif is found at 12 o’clock with Automatic at 6 o’clock. On the reverse, a screw-down case back with the brand motif and inside an automatic Miyota 90S5, 24 jewels, 28,800 beats per hour.

Kurono Tokyo

Kurono Tokyo is a project of Hajime Asaoka, an AHCI member, independent watchmaker and widely recognised as one of the world's top-ranked independent watchmakers. Starting his watchmaking journey in 1997, Hajime Asaoka is known for his unique perspective of refinement and modernity and a watchmaking philosophy that is distinctively Japanese. The brand was born out his desire to deliver his watches to a broader audience at a more affordable price point than those available under his namesake brand.
