Hublot

Hublot is a Swiss luxury watchmaker founded in 1980 by Carlo Crocco. The founder, initially part of the prominent Binda Group and maker of Breil watches, left the company in 1976 to strike out on his own and realize his own ideas. He founded the watch manufacturer MDM Genève in Geneva to combine refined Italian design with solid Swiss craftsmanship.

Developing a watch style with a luxury case in gold, titanium screws, and a bracelet in black rubber, Crocco introduced his futuristic watches using the concept of "Fusion" and according to their shapes called the watches and eventually the brand, "Hublot" (the French word for porthole).

The watch, featuring a natural rubber strap is a first in the history of watchmaking and was a commercial success selling over 2 million dollars in revenue in its first year of manufacture. "Fusion" eventually became the foundation and philosophy of the brand, uniting craftsmanship of watchmaking, the power of innovative design, and pioneering materials.

Hublot also created a range of unique “in-house” movements. Notable achievement includes; a unique design of the Unico automatic chronograph; an unparalleled power reserve of Meca-10, Tourbillon, and MP-11 calibers; and a revolutionary motor approach with 11 MP-05 barrels and a 50-day power reserve.
