Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud is a Swiss luxury watch brand named after scientist and master watchmaker Ferdinand Berthoud. The brand is based in Fleurier, Switzerland close to where the watchmaker was born.

Born in 1727, Ferdinand Berthoud left Switzerland as a young man to complete his apprenticeship in Paris. A skilled clockmaker early on, he was awarded the title of Master Horologist by special decree of the Council of King Louis XV in 1753. He devoted himself to perfecting his art and to the development of precision clocks, at a time when European courts competed to master the calculation of longitude.

In 1768, he produced two marine chronometers, the N°6 and N°8, which were taken on board a vessel of the Royal Navy for trials and demonstrated extraordinary precision.

Due to this success, Ferdinand Berthoud was appointed "Clockmaker-Mechanic to the King and the Navy." He would write numerous scientific references from which he shared his knowledge of clock making and marine chronometers. In 1804, he was made a Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur by Napoleon I and would be considered to be the father of marine chronometry in France.

In 2006, Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, president of Chopard, established the Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud brand, intending to pay tribute to the exceptional clockmaker, his body of work, and innovation associated with his name.

In 2015, the Chronomètre FB 1 and its FB-T.FC in-house calibre was presented in Paris for the first time which won the prestigious Aiguille d’Or at the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève following year.
