Born in Mumbai, Prajakta Palav Aher received her Bachelor’s degree in painting from the Sir J. J. School of Art there in 2000. In 2003, she completed her Master’s degree from the same institute. Her most recent solo shows include ‘Sprouting Beads’ at Grosvenor Vadehra, London, in 2010; Kitab Mahal, Mumbai, in 2007; ‘Solo II” at Vadehra Art Gallery, New Delhi, in 2007; and ‘Corners’ at Gallery Beyond, Mumbai, in 2005. Her works have also been exhibited in a number of group shows, the most recent being ‘Constructed Realities’ at the Guild Art Gallery, Mumbai, in 2010; ‘Recycled’ at Bose Pacia, Kolkata, in 2009; ‘A New Vanguard’ at Saffronart and the Guild Art Gallery, New York, in 2009; ‘The Landscapes of Where’ at Galerie Mirchandani + Steinruecke, Mumbai, in 2009; ‘Urban Smiles: Transforming the Cities’ at Project 88, Mumbai, in 2007; and ‘Split Ends; at Bombay Art Gallery, Mumbai, in 2007. In 2005, she received the Future Artist Award from the National Gallery of Modern Art, Mumbai, and the Kashi Visual Art Award from Kashi Art Gallery, Kochi. The artist lives and works in Mumbai.
