Born in Amritsar, Singh studied fine art at the School of Art at Delhi Polytechnic, and printmaking at Atelier Nord in Norway. Between 1963 and 1992, he served as a Professor in Department of Fine Arts, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. Singh’s recent solo exhibitions include those held at Vadehra Art Gallery, New Delhi, 2010; the Centre of International Modern Art (CIMA), Kolkata, in 2009, 1999 and 1994; Bodhi Art, Singapore, in 2008; Vadehra Art Gallery, New Delhi, in 2007, 2002, 1998 and 1995; Sakshi Gallery, Mumbai, in 2005; Talwar Gallery, New York, in 2004; and Air Gallery, London, in 2001. Singh won the National Award of the Lalit Kala Akademi in 1970. Paramjit Singh lives and works in New Delhi.
