Born in Bac Giang, Vietnam, Nguyen Van Cuong studied in the Fine Art Teacher’s College in Bac Giang Province from 1992 until 1995 before receiving his degree in painting from the Hanoi Fine Art University in 1999. Upon further studies, he received his Master of Fine Arts from the same institution. Aside from painting, he serves as a lecturer at the National College of Music and Painting from 2005 until the present. Van was awarded the first prize for Propaganda Paintings Contest in 1996 and the 2nd prize for National Fine Arts Exhibition in 2005. He also exhibited widely in Asia as well as the United States.
