Born in 1964, Manisha Parekh studied painting at the M.S. University in Baroda. She also received the INLAKS Scholarship to study at the Royal College of Art, London, the Erasums exchange, Berlin, and the Heinrich-Boll fellowship in Bonn. Some of her recent solo exhibitions include ‘Being as One’ at Rohtas 2 Gallery, Lahore, in 2012; ‘Amber’ at Indigo Blue Art, Singapore in 2011; ‘Spinning Secrets’ at Nature Morte, New Delhi, in 2009; ‘Wonder Woods’ at Bodhi Art, New York, in 2008; ‘Shadow Gardens’ at Berkeley Square Gallery and Saffronart, London, in 2006, ‘Memory Membrane’ at Sakshi Gallery, Mumbai, in 2006; Nature Morte, New Delhi, in 2004, 2002, 2000 and 1999; and Gallery Foundation for Indian Artists, Amsterdam, in 1999. Her work has been featured in several group exhibitions including ‘Panoplism’ at Nature Morte, New Delhi, in 2013; ‘Back to School: Baroda 1979-89’ at Palette Art Gallery, New Delhi, in 2011; ‘Nature Revisited’ at Aakriti Gallery, Kolkata, in 2010; ‘Bapu’ at Saffronart, Mumbai in 2009; ‘Fault Lines’ at Bodhi Art, Mumbai, in 2008; ‘Fluid Structures – Gender and Abstraction in India (1970s – 2008)’ at Vadehra Art Gallery, New Delhi, in 2008; and ‘Indian Color’ at Keumsan Gallery, Seoul, in 2007. The artist lives and works in New Delhi.
