Born in 1942, in Gujarat, Madhvi is a self taught artist who started painting in 1964. She gained much of her exposure to art and inspiration for her paintings, from her husband Manu Parekh. Madhvi's work has its inspiration from rural India, while her style is contemporary; influenced by artists such as Paul Klee and Clemente. Her earliest solo exhibition in India was held at Gallery Chemould, Kolkata, in 1972; and at Dhoomimal Gallery, New Delhi, in 1975, 1978 and 1986. She has since exhibited her work in solo shows around India and Kuwait, Germany, the Netherlands and the United States of America. The Artist has also participated in many group exhibitions in India and internationally since the seventies, including those held at Grosvenor Vadehra in London, Jebiwool Art Museum in Seoul, James Harvey Gallery in Balmain, Australia, the Tropical Museum and Gallery Schoo in Amsterdam, Maya Art Gallery in Hong Kong, and Bose Pacia in New York. Madhvi Parekh lives and works in Delhi.
