Paramjit Singh

(b. 1935) Born in Amritsar, Singh studied fine art at the School of Art at Delhi Polytechnic, and printmaking at Atelier Nord in Norway. Between 1963 and 1992, he served as a Professor in Department of Fine Arts, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. Singh’s recent solo exhibitions include those held at Vadehra Art Gallery, New Delhi, 2010; the Centre of International Modern Art (CIMA), Kolkata, in 2009, 1999 and 1994; Bodhi Art, Singapore, in 2008; Vadehra Art Gallery, New Delhi, in 2007, 2002, 1998 and 1995; Sakshi Gallery, Mumbai, in 2005; Talwar Gallery, New York, in 2004; and Air Gallery, London, in 2001. Singh won the National Award of the Lalit Kala Akademi in 1970. Paramjit Singh lives and works in New Delhi.
